The Simple Explanation For The Rise of Donald Trump…

While on a hike through nature, an atheist slips on a rock and falls down a hill, breaking both of his legs. After he stops falling, he discovers that a tree branch has stabbed him in the throat. Read the rest of this entry

Mr. Obama, Time’s Up

We have now been fighting in Afghanistan longer than the Civil War, World War I and World War II combined.

It’s time to come home.

It’s a damn handshake…

Posted on

At Nelson Mandela’s memorial in South Africa, President Obama – while going to his seat – shook several hands. One of those hands belonged to Raul Castro.

And, of course, republicans have gone apeshit over it. John McCain even invoked Godwin’s Law and compared it to shaking hands with Hitler. Read the rest of this entry

Meet The Nominee For Entrepreneur…I Mean Surgeon General

Posted on

Quick, who is the current Surgeon General of the US?

No?

C. Everett Koop

He can’t get up

Okay, who was the last one you can name? Did you say C. Everett Koop? You know, the guy from those Life Alert commercials.

It’s okay – I had the same answer. Unless you’re a higher-up in the medical industry, you probably don’t keep up with the Surgeon General too much.

But what would you say if I told you there have been 13 people in that position (including those who were “acting” and weren’t nominated) since Koop retired in 1989? (To put this in perspective, from the time the position was created in 1879, there were only 12 people in that position, one of them “acting”, for the next 102 years…)

The Future Of Politics In The US

Posted on

The older I get, the more I look around at politicians and wonder, “Where are all the young people?” They’re nowhere to be found. Sure, they rallied around Obama (twice), but since then they’ve not had a lot to say about politics.

Local and State-level politics are just as important, if not more so, than national politics. Watch this video from a 12-year old girl in North Carolina.

To Pat McCrory, Governor of North Carolina, I am providing a list of burn centers in the US. You, sir, just got toasted by a 12-year old.

No, You Can’t Keep Your Insurance

Posted on

No, you probably can’t keep your insurance. Know why? Because insurance companies are greedy.

The first time Obama said you can keep your insurance plan was in 2009. And at the time, he was right. Then the Department of Health and Human Services (the Secretary of which is Kathleen Sebelius, former Kansas Insurance Commissioner, appointed by Obama*) changed the provision. They wrote regulations that narrowed that provision, by saying that if any part of a policy was significantly changed since that date — the deductible, co-pay, or benefits, for example — the policy would not be grandfathered.

Get to know us!

Jerry here. Let me start this blog by making something totally clear:

Your Face is Politics is not a news site.

We aren’t just reporting news. This site is all about discussions of political issues. We want a free forum to respectfully discuss politics without worrying about a bunch of politically correct nonsense.

We absolutely have opinions, and we openly state those opinions. On the other hand, we promise to never give information that we know is false. We’ll call out bullshit, no matter what side of the aisle it’s coming from. We listen to any opposing viewpoints. Always. We might disagree with them (sometimes enthusiastically), but we consider every opinion. When someone disagrees with us, we consider what they have to say. We don’t just try to think of a counter-argument. We listen. Read the rest of this entry

Some Simple and Easy-to-Understand Answers to Questions about Obamacare

Posted on

Let’s be honest here. One of the biggest reasons people are still fighting about the Affordable Care Act (also called “Obamacare” and the “ACA”) is because most of us still don’t understand it. The damn bill is big. I’ve read that the condensed version is over 2000 pages long. I’ve seen other reports giving other estimates on its length, but I think everybody in both parties can agree with this statement: The Affordable Care Act is big and complicated.

In many ways I think it’s unnecessarily complicated, but there are also aspects that should be complicated. This is a complicated subject.

The downside, of course, is the fact that politicians (on both sides) use the complexity and size of the bill to distort the facts.

It’s time to stop listening to the politicians on this issue. Please. To them, the actual value of the Affordable Care Act is irrelevant.

The ACA could be the best thing for this country and republicans would still oppose it.

The ACA could be the worst thing for this country and democrats would still support it.

So let’s forget the politicians. House Speaker John Boehner is just pushing an agenda. Senate majority leader Harry Reid is just pushing an agenda.

So let’s just ignore them and think for ourselves, shall we? Read the rest of this entry

Where in the world is President Obama?

I read in USA Today that an Al-Quaida group – one of the many different factions who are labeled as rebels in Syria – has captured an ancient village that is home to the two oldest monasteries in Syria.

These rebels told the residents of Maaloula, many of whom were/are Christian in their religious beliefs, that they could either convert to Islam or be beheaded in the street.

Obama Is Seeking Congressional Approval in Regards to Syria. Great News, but a Sad Example of What We Have Become.

Posted on

Obama is going to actually go to Congress about Syria.

First and foremost, this is great news. This is exactly how it’s supposed to work.

Honestly, I think this is the best news I’ve heard from the Obama administration in a long time.

And yes, I realize he didn’t really have a choice. Ignoring Congressional approval would have ended the Obama presidency in pretty much every practical way. In non-partisan polls, nearly 80% of Americans said he should go through Congress. Members of all parties were calling for him to go through Congress. Even Obama – back in 2008 – declared situations like this must go through Congress.

So yeah. I get that this is a political decision as much as a moral (or legal) decision.

I don’t care. Read the rest of this entry
